X-men vs Sentinel Sideshow Collectibles Diorama #3 – Wolverine and Kitty

This statue is part of a series of 3 dioramas that is easily one of my favourite lines to date. I love the X-Men, the Astonishing storyline was an excellent read, and the idea of a line of statues featuring the X-Men trashing a Sentinel had the potential to be so dynamic and cool looking. Fortunately, it didn’t disappoint! On to the Sideshow Collectibles X-Men vs Sentinel Sideshow Diorama #3 – Wolverine and Kitty.
The first in this line goes for absurd amounts now, but it’s made the second and the third ones in the line super cheap. The exclusive of the third lacks the light-up features of the first two, and instead gives you an extra Wolverine. You can display him in either his costume or his street clothes. I can see why people were a little disappointed in this exclusive, because some wires shorting out would’ve been sweet and fit better with the rest.
The sculpt on this is fantastic. Wolverine is in a great pose, as if he’s about to pounce. Lockheed looks great, and Kitty is phasing through the sentinel’s giant foot. Nicely fits within a Detolf too. I do have one problem, and it’s a fairly big one. Kitty’s face looks off, I’d go so far as to say it looks manly. Total shame since she’s one of my favourite characters.
I’ve seen complaints about some of the costumes used in these dioramas, and while I don’t like this version of Kitty’s costume at all, it’s how it looked in the comic. Wolverine’s street clothes are cool, but his costume is so well done that I can’t imagine I’ll ever display the other. The base on this? One of the nicest I’ve ever seen. The sentinel foot is huge, superbly painted, and so nicely detailed. It looks like they really trashed a giant, which is how it should feel when they’re fighting a sentinel.
Overall, a solid 4.5/5. Kitty’s face detracts from it since she’s one of my favourite X-Men, but everything else is so damn nice. The exclusive really isn’t worth it unless you get a great deal.
Buying Options : While it’s still in stock at Sideshow, it’s a lot cheaper on the secondary market. I’ve seen it for sale often on statue forums, and of course, Ebay
