I’ve heard great things about CS Moore statues, both for their style and their paint. This one was created with Diamond Select – the Emma Frost retro statue. There’s also a modern version with less clothing, and a different base. It’s fairly hoed up as is, but whatever you like best.
This was one of the earlier White Queen statues, if not the earliest, and it’s sculpted really nicely. There’s two newer statues, the Adam Hughes comiquette and the upcoming Sideshow Premium Format one, along with a few busts. They’re all very different styles, so it depends what you’re going for. This particular one is probably the most classy, as silly as that sounds when you look at these photos. The Sideshow comiquette has enormous breasts that she’s squeezing together that look like they’re about to burst out of her clothing and hit her in the face. The PF is a more animated style since it’s based off of the J Scott Campbell art, and the busts are decent in their own way.
When I saw pictures of this one, I wasn’t sold on it. I didn’t think the face looked that good in most of the shots, but there were some shots on a forum I saw that showed real potential. Glad that I was right, because the face on this looks fantastic. Better than the Sideshow one, though that has it’s own appeal.
The sculpting is fantastic. The base is nicely made, the body and the pose were picked well, and the face/hair come off looking great. The only part where I think the sculpt is questionable is her upper back. Yeah, back muscles have a look like that in certain poses, but it should’ve been toned down a little, whether from the sculpt or the paint on top of it.
I’m a bit iffy on the paint. They’ve added a lot of red highlights to it, which gives the skin some added oomph over a more flat skin colour, but at parts it seems like the shading is a little strong, especially on the back. Around her ass area, the shading seems kinda strange. It’s not a big deal and doesn’t come across as noticeable in pictures, despite me trying to capture it accurately.
Overall, I’m quite happy with this statue, 4.5/5. It’s expensive for a DST statue, but compared to the cost of the Sideshow one, it’s not bad. I’d consider this a worthwhile purchase, even at it’s current inflated prices.
