Thor – Vikings Comic Review

There's some good things about this comic, but I've got a huge problem with the premise itself. You've got these asshole vikings that go rape and murder everyone in a village and some crappy wise man puts a curse on them before he's murdered. This curse is SO POWERFUL that it lasts 1000 years and makes the vikings invulnerable. I'm talking one of them beating Thor nearly to death and demolishing the rest of the Avengers while taking zero casualties.

Seems kinda stupid to me that heroes that managed to take down villains that could alter the reality of the universe get beaten by some dumbass vikings that had a curse placed on them by some idiot wizard. Why wouldn't all super villains just recruit idiot wizards to place "curses" on them that make them invulnerable?

Aside from that, most of the writing is alright. There's plenty of action, even if most of it was beyond gratuitous in terms of violence just because it's a MAX title. The main problem with it, beyond how ridiculous it can be, is that it doesn't do anything as a "Thor" title. Thor barely does anything and he could've been replaced with any other hero, there's nothing unique here for his character to do beyond being kind of like vikings I guess?

2.5/5

What kind of a CURSE makes a warrior invulnerable?

Sounds like a blessing instead. LOL

I hate Garth Ennis, not sure how he gets to work on major marvel characters. Then again, Jeph Loeb still has a job… blech.
