I’ll be passing on this one since I prefer the classic cartoon versions but I have to admit, I’m very impressed by the detail work on this, especially at this scale! Available for preorder at Hobby Search for $32.

And the first wave of releases is going to be Megatron and Optimus Prime!

While I don’t collect the smaller ones anymore, wave 5 of the Transformers Generations Legends figures looks fantastic. Bringing out a bunch of the classic designs, nicely shrunken down and affordable ($50 for all 6), I can see this set selling damn well. The Megatron and Starscream in particular look great.

Certainly took long enough for them to get proper press photos up. Here’s a few shots of the Takara Tomy Masterpiece Rodimus Prime Transformers toy. Already available for preorder at a few import shops, I think I’ll wait for a proper domestic release.

You get to see Rodimus Prime’s weapon here, as well as the general size of him. Oh, and goggles, WOOP WOOP. GOOD NEWS though, not only does he come with the Rodimus Prime face, he appears to come with the original Hot Rod face. While not quite perfect, I’d say it looks much better.

A rather ridiculously impressive Transformers lineup was just revealed over at Cybertron Con in China. Not quite what I was expecting, the Takara Tomy Masterpiece Rodimus Prime doesn’t quite look like the movie version, but it’s a prototype so who knows, maybe it’ll improve. Shots under the cut.

TakaraTomy has put out some wonderful Masterpiece figures and I’m glad they’re planning to do Rodimus Prime credit, given his role in the movie. Sure, a lot of fans hate him, but he’s memorable and has a cool design, so I’ll be adding him to my collection for sure. Here’s the preview sketch.
