Ah, this has been a long time coming. The paint on this looks fantastic, Bowen Designs hit this one out of the park.

Kotobukiya Rogue Bishoujo Statue Review

Here’s a review of the second in Kotobukiya’s Bishoujo line of statues, Rogue.

As with the Black Widow, this statue is tiny. It also comes in at a pretty cheap price so that’s no surprise.

This statue right here, what a fantastic design by Shunya. Rogue’s in her classic Jim Lee styled outfit with a few minor modifications. She’s in a very bold pose.

Absolutely zero issues with this sculpt. Fantastic face, nicely flowing hair, great body and detail work. The base is simple and it’s in line with the rest of the series.

The vast majority of the paint on this is superb. They decided on some interesting choices to separate the boots and gloves from the regular fabric look, works well. The only issues are some slightly rough work around the edges of parts of her outfit. You can see that in the booble area and near the belt.

5/5. Minor paint issues aside, superb piece.

DC Direct releasing another two Ame-Comi repaints, Donna Troy and Supergirl

I’ve waffled on the DC Direct Ame-Comi line before. Sometimes they’ll have crap, sometimes they’ll have surprisingly strong entries, it’s been very hit or miss. But these repaints are getting old and are obviously a way to make more money from their sculpts. These come in at $60 MSRP and you can see images under the cut.

Bowen Designs considering another classic Iron Man statue

This one is being considered for the hall of armor, but it may end up getting posed in a different way, perhaps an action pose. So consider this a potential sneak peek of the next Bowen Designs classic Iron Man.

DC Direct’s newest VS statue addition – Superman vs Brainiac

One of DC Direct‘s most popular lines, they just announced a new VS statue, Superman vs Brainiac. I’m kicking myself for not picking up Superman vs Darkseid for cheap, since the value has skyrocketed, ugh.

This comes in at just under 17 inches tall and 8 inches wide with a MSRP of $250.

Chinese Transformers fans make a gigantic Bayverse Optimus Prime out of garbage

North America is getting left way behind in the enormous roughly 1:1 scale statue department, embarrassing! This behemoth is 33 feet tall and made out of junk car parts found in local garbage dumps.

DC Direct’s DC MMO line of statues seems to be improving – Wonder Woman and Green Arrow

While I’m not sold on either of them, the sculpting quality looks a lot closer to what I’d like it to look like. Green Arrow comes in just under 8 inches and Wonder Woman is just under 7.6 inches, both have a MSRP of $85 and they’ll be released late March in 2011.

It’s been at least a month or two since DC Direct announced a new line of statues, we all know it was bound to happen. This one has an interesting idea going but I want to see lots more photos before I decide if I like the idea or not. Here’s the sales pitch and picture under the cut :

The Ultimate Showdown series is DC Direct’s unique, new interactive concept for high-quality collectible statues featuring the world’s greatest heroes and villains squaring off in deadly combat.

Each character is displayed on a specially designed stand-alone base intended to “interact” with the other statues in the series and to be displayed in a myriad of ways. The statues can pivot independently on their bases and rotate their heads to customize and direct the action. Collect all the other statue sets in the series! Mix and match them to create your own showdown or combine them all in one ultimate battle scene. These hand-painted, cold-cast porcelain statues measure approximately:

Green Lantern: 7.35” high x 4.5” wide x 5.25” deep.

The latest Batman Black and White addition – Joker Lee Bermejo statue

Not the version of the Joker I expected to see next, but a rather nice surprise from DC Direct. MSRP is $80, expect to see it in March 2011.

This statue measures approximately 7” high x 5.75” wide x 5.75” deep, is painted in monochromatic tones, features a Bat-logo-shaped base and is packaged in a black and white box.
