Certainly took long enough for them to get proper press photos up. Here’s a few shots of the Takara Tomy Masterpiece Rodimus Prime Transformers toy. Already available for preorder at a few import shops, I think I’ll wait for a proper domestic release.

You get to see Rodimus Prime’s weapon here, as well as the general size of him. Oh, and goggles, WOOP WOOP. GOOD NEWS though, not only does he come with the Rodimus Prime face, he appears to come with the original Hot Rod face. While not quite perfect, I’d say it looks much better.

Not quite what I was expecting, the Takara Tomy Masterpiece Rodimus Prime doesn’t quite look like the movie version, but it’s a prototype so who knows, maybe it’ll improve. Shots under the cut.

TakaraTomy has put out some wonderful Masterpiece figures and I’m glad they’re planning to do Rodimus Prime credit, given his role in the movie. Sure, a lot of fans hate him, but he’s memorable and has a cool design, so I’ll be adding him to my collection for sure. Here’s the preview sketch.

Toys R Us SDCC exclusives announced

Another day, another batch of SDCC exclusives, it never ends! Head over to booth #2343 to pick these up. In addition to the figures, Toys R Us is having a few autograph sessions, details of which are under the cut, along with full descriptions of all the exclusives. If you can’t make the show, these will be available in limited quantities at the Toys R Us website on the 21st.

Transformers Masterpiece line expanding to the Bay movies with Starscream?

The news on this one has been all over the place, the Transformers Masterpiece toy line is one of my favourites, releasing high quality versions of classic Transformers. While I certainly don’t consider the movie versions appealing, this is apparently going to be the first release in the line, MP-M01 – Starscream. The retail price is supposed to be around $100. However, many people are speculating this is either a custom, or a photoshop. It appears to look exactly like the Leader-class Starscream, which was considerably cheaper. So right now, let’s stick with it being quite likely but not guaranteed.

Personally, I’d rather see more fan favourites from the original series, but whatever.

Transformers Masterpiece Grimlock finally coming to the US on July 1st

Just a quick blurb, Hasbro’s site has been updated to say that this is arriving on US shores as a Toys R Us exclusive on July 1st. I already imported mine from Japan ages ago, shame I didn’t finish my review before this! It’s a fantastic addition to the Masterpiece line of Transformers and I do recommend it.

Transformers Masterpiece Starscream – New variant announced – Ghost edition!

I’m sure most people are tired of this Masterpiece mold, but since this variant is limited to one store and it’s a movie related (well, post-movie), I kinda like it. No way I’ll order it, but I’m sure some die-hard fans will.
