Kotobukiya previews their upcoming Dead or Alive Kasumi statue

This one is based off of the artwork of Ashito Ooyari, and I gotta say, I don’t think it works that great for a Kasumi statue. If you’ve played Dead or Alive (or seen other statues), they work better with a more traditional anime statue look. However, if you’re a fan of the artist, this release from Kotobukiya might be up your alley.

Kotobukiya has been known to release figures with removable clothing before, but as far as I know, not on their licences that are well known to western audiences. This Kasumi, from the Dead or Alive franchise, seems to be based off of an illustration in a Queen’s Blade book. I took a quick look at these while writing this, and it seems to be a pseudo RPG based around female characters in sexual situations. Oh Japan, what will you come up with next!

Anyways, this statue lets you cast off her clothing and leave her in a bra and panties, so I’ll save those shots for under the cut. It’s a Tecmo online shop/Hobby Japan exclusive coming in around $70, good luck getting her. If you ask me, she looks a little awkward in her more revealing form, but whatever.

Ladies a Little Lacking? It’s Recasting Time! Astonishing Results Overnight!!

A few days ago I showed off a recast Buffy Premium Format statue. The guys involved were taking statues, stripping them nude, giving them humongous breasts, then adding on really dumb looking optional clothing so they can still sell them on Ebay.

I’m against recasting, after all, there’s a Recast Alert section on the site. With that out of the way, these things are utterly hilarious. I’m as much of a fan of naked lady statues as anyone else and I’m sure I’ll have a few in my collection at some point, but these take it up a notch.

Who even buys these? You can already take the Sideshow Premium Format Buffy and strip her naked if you want, it’s all cloth. It’s as if someone did that and thought, you know what Buffy needs? GIANT HOOTS. At least with the non-cloth ones it makes slightly more sense to cast them naked. Not so much the outrageously sized boobs but hey. I think you’ll also love how utterly scary some of them look in the face department. Eek.
