DC Direct brings another gorgeous addition to their Dynamics line – Sinestro

For all the complaints the Dynamics line gets about being overly elaborate busts, I think they’ve (mostly) got a great look to them and I’m glad to see the line continue. DC Direct is knocking out a Sinestro statue next April. It’ll be about 12″ tall and come with the unfortunately high MSRP of $195. Image under the cut because damn is this thing really vertical, it’d throw my page layout into a tall mess.

Mattel releasing a Green Lantern Classics line of action figures in 2011

For all of my issues with Mattel and their MattyCollector brand, they do put out some impressive DC figures. These Green Lantern ones may be my favourite yet, although the Mongul could use a bit of work.

Available for preorder at Entertainment Earth.

It’s $120 for a full set, but you get two Manhunters and two of the figure that has a switch-out head, so you can display both characters.

It’s been at least a month or two since DC Direct announced a new line of statues, we all know it was bound to happen. This one has an interesting idea going but I want to see lots more photos before I decide if I like the idea or not. Here’s the sales pitch and picture under the cut :

The Ultimate Showdown series is DC Direct’s unique, new interactive concept for high-quality collectible statues featuring the world’s greatest heroes and villains squaring off in deadly combat.

Each character is displayed on a specially designed stand-alone base intended to “interact” with the other statues in the series and to be displayed in a myriad of ways. The statues can pivot independently on their bases and rotate their heads to customize and direct the action. Collect all the other statue sets in the series! Mix and match them to create your own showdown or combine them all in one ultimate battle scene. These hand-painted, cold-cast porcelain statues measure approximately:

DC busts out another Heroes of DC release – Hal Jordan Green Lantern

Seems that DC Direct will be focusing the Heroes of DC bust line on Blackest Night in 2011. I have no clue if this means they’ll be releasing ONLY Blackest Night busts or those in addition to the normal releases. The first one up is the best known Green Lantern, the big man himself, Hal Jordan. I’m rather liking his look so far! Image and specs under the cut.

I would’ve dumped this in a custom statue showcase, but since it’s an active auction, might as well toss it up there. They took the Jim Lee Superman statue (which I have previously reviewed) and made a pretty sweet looking Green Lantern out of him. Shame he didn’t modify the base as well, but it makes me want do try the same at some point.

DC Direct releasing limited Wondercon Blackest Night figures

I’ve heard nothing but complaints about the DC Direct SDCC distribution of their limited Green Lantern figures so I imagine it’ll be the same for this. Good luck to anyone that’s interested in these!

Two new additions to the DC Direct Chronicles statue line – Green Lantern and the Flash

Continuing another line of statues that lets DC release their main characters again and again, we’ve got two new additions to the DC Direct Chronicles line. Green Lantern and Flash in two of their classic representations, with the Flash coming out nicer than I thought he would.

Marvel/DC Siege/Blackest Night Cover Fight

I’ve been reading a little bit about this, Marvel did something that could’ve been seen as a pretty funny rival move, but they’re playing it up a bit too much and coming off as kind of dicks in the matter.

Alright, so the initial move, the 50 covers bit, that’s pretty funny. But this quote and the cover itself are kind of bullshit.

We’re doing this because we’re in the business of selling content rather than Cracker Jack prizes.

A nice burn…but how many variant covers does Marvel release of every single big issue comic now? 3? I’ve seen some of their comics with a good 5 variant covers. A quick google search shows there’s been some weeks where half of Marvel’s releases are variant covers.

I think you’d find more people are interested in cracker jack power rings than they are a sketch cover of Colossus flexing or whatever.

DC Direct New Statue Announcements – Batman, Wonder Woman, Poison Ivy and more

Fairly wide variety of collectibles on this particular update. I’m not usually a fan of the DC Direct prop replicas, primarily due to their overall direction, but the Wonder Woman one below looks surprisingly cool. I’m not sure if it’s the photography or what, but I don’t find the Poison Ivy terribly appealing in this shot, despite loving the art it’s based off of. I’ll post more shots when they’re available.

DC Direct released a few nice bust images today. I think I’m most impressed by the Lynda Carter Wonder Woman bust, I’m not a fan of the Lynda Carter Wonder Woman, but it looks fantastic.
