This was one of the first X-Men stories I read, and it was good enough that X-Men became my favourite comic when I was a kid. It’s a short story, taking place over 2 issues.

We’re treated to a future where most of the X-Men have died. Sentinels have herded them into concentration camps, there’s no hope for them. The remaining X-Men decide on a desperate plan, they’re going to send Kitty back through time so she can inhabit her young body and warn the X-Men to stop an event that sets that future in motion.

It’s got a great setup, there’s a lot of emotion in the writing. For it’s time, it’s got some really great art and classic images of the X-Men. This is easily one of the most powerful X-Men stories, despite it’s length, and any X-Men fan should add this to their must-read list.

5/5. The graphic novel that contains this has a bunch of unrelated stories (that aren’t as good) but hey, what can you do?
