Maketoys creating a custom Transformers Devestator and it might be the best yet!

It’s impressive how dedicated the custom Transformers community is to improving or making their own take on classic figures. Devestator in particular has had a couple complete customs, this latest one by Maketoys looks incredible. The individual pieces all look nicely improved over the originals, though no pricing has been announced yet. You can check out the full shots over here.

Custom One Piece Shirahoshi statue!

I don’t post as much about custom statues as I’d like to but this custom One Piece Shirahoshi statue caught my eye. I really can’t imagine Megahouse making one in the Portrait of Pirates line and this custom has a great look and interesting pose.

Like the Nami custom, it’ll likely go down a little in price over time.

A side project I’m working on

Figured you guys would appreciate a look at a side-project I’ve been working on with a buddy of mine. We bought a 3d printer and we finished off a commission for a friend of ours for a life-size rifle from one of my favourite franchises, Mass Effect.

You can see some more construction pictures over here. Pretty awesome what a 3d printer can accomplish! It was a lot of work but we’ve got some awesome projects we’ll be working on in the next few months.

I recently got an email to check out a custom Superman 3d project and I was really impressed so I felt like I’d give you guys a heads up to check out a really talented sculptor, Alex Pereira.

Here’s his webpage. Turns out he sculpted the ARH Medusa, one of my favourite pieces from SDCC!

Kotobukiya’s Toy Fair preview – One of a kind Carbon Freezing chamber

Here’s a little preview of Kotobukiya’s Toy Fair booth, one I’ll try to get photos of when I’m there! This is a one of a kind display they’ve got for their ArtFX statues, which is a shame, since it seems to make a great diorama.

The 501st pulls off a fantastic charity project

The 501st, for those not aware, are a group of guys that do pretty awesome Star Wars costumes. They decided to do a huge charity auction of custom stormtrooper helmets at the Star Wars Celebration convention (which I unfortunately haven’t attended yet) and raised an absolute ton of money. Check out all the helmets here. I’m pasting in one of my favourite ones below, what a great project.
