Sideshow Collectibles just released the full gallery of their Black Widow Premium Format statue from Iron Man 2. So what do you guys think? Definitely a fan of the likeness, the materials look pretty nice, good pose. Kind of a lackluster exclusive though. Still, seems like an excellent Scarlett Johansson statue! I’m laughing at this but I’m totally going to sample these Avengers colognes if they’re available at any store around here. Whoever wrote the flavour text on these clearly had a good time.

They’ve also got a Loki cologne and a Nick Fury one available. This lack of Black Widow and Hawkeye, totally unacceptable!

Kotobukiya prepares their Avengers onslaught for the year with their second Black Widow Bishoujo release

No doubt the first of many Avengers related Bishoujo releases for Kotobukiya this year, here’s their second Black Widow Bishoujo statue. I’m really liking the base and pose, as well as most of the sculpt, but the face could stand to be improved.

No doubt Sideshow Collectibles plans an extensive amount of Avengers products this year, here’s the Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow Premium Format statue! Full reveal shouldn’t take too long. So far I’m enjoying the likeness, better than the Hot Toys one (review coming!) from that angle.

They’ve also had a couple of contests for figures during the 12 Days of Sideshow event, if you guys want to enter, here you go!

Bowen Designs Vision statue review

Decent collectibles news has been slow this week so let’s pull out another classic review of mine that I never got around to publishing! I’ll have a new review late this week but until then, here’s the Bowen Designs Vision statue.

I’ve never been a huge fan of Vision in the Avenger’s comics, though I always appreciated his simple, but kind of cool design. A friend of mine picked this statue up and I figured what the hell, let’s check this guy out. Come experience THE VISION under the cut.

Bowen made two versions of this. The regular one that I’m reviewing and the “phasing” exclusive version. Same pose, just part of Vision is phasing. The phasing one looks slightly nicer, but not nearly enough to justify the increased price.

I’m not entirely sure about the overall pose since Vision doesn’t have any arm related powers, it’s not a threatening pose, and holding his cape seems unnecessary. Though I believe he’s holding his cape because the Scarlet Witch statue is holding hers, which ties them together in an interesting way. Those issues aside, the pose looks pretty cool, even if it isn’t particularly related to his powers.

He has an incredibly simple yet impressive paint application. The shading, though also simple, really fleshes the whole thing out. That was always Vision’s design so the lack of complexity is no fault of Bowen.

The sculpt looks exactly like the Vision I remember. It’s his face that really seals the deal. It definitely nails the impression and feel I had of Vision when I read older Avengers comics. The decision you really have to make for yourself is do you enjoy classic Avengers to pick up a (reasonably) priced statue that isn’t exactly the most interesting? It’s unlikely Bowen will come out with another Vision anytime soon, there’s simply not much to do with the character, and this is a good representation. For me, it was worth it!
