My first impression was that this was way bigger than any Revoltech figure I’ve seen to date. Good! The Queen is supposed to be huge, if she weren’t large as hell, that would’ve been a big problem. Of course, large as hell in Revoltech scale is still tiny compared to what most of you guys are used to. She takes a lot more effort to pose than most Revoltech figures. She’s top heavy with skinny little legs and keeps wanting to tip over! So you cram that stabilizing pole into her chest and hope for the best but even then, it’s difficult. You’ll notice in a few pictures I couldn’t get her feet properly aligned on the floor.

The paint scheme shares a number of similarities with the Alien Warrior, as you’d expect. However, the brown transparent areas are more muted. The bone structures on the back of the head and the brown surrounding them provide a great contrast with the rest, I wasn’t even aware that was how the Alien Queen looked back there! The other parts of the Queen come in a gorgeous dark blue, although I’m pretty sure the teeth are supposed to be painted white? Strange that they’d skimp on that detail, considering the rest of the paintjob!

Packaging wise, they managed to cram her into a box very similar in size to the rest of the figures, impressive! Unfortunately, this means she comes with pretty much no accessories.

See those almost wing-like boney structures on the back? They move up and down. I didn’t think they’d be very useful but depending on what pose you have her in, they do add a more menacing feel if you line them up properly. You’ll probably find you’re concerned about breaking them off though, when you’re trying to jam in the one leg and one arm into the socket, they get in the way of a proper grip. I was damn sure I was gonna crack them off and write an angry paragraph but hey, luck was on my side!

No complaints about the sculpting but I’m not as familiar with the Alien Queen design as I am with the Alien ones. The sculpting job they’ve done on it allows a lot of movement, including full movement for those goofy little T-Rex arms on her chest!

See what I mean about the size thing? I don’t think that’s to scale but it’s not bad by any means, she’s a big one!

3.5/5. She’s well sculpted, well painted, but a pain in the ass to pose, which really limits the “toy” aspect of a Revoltech figure. I would’ve paid a few bucks more for some accessories too! On the other hand, she adds a lot to an Aliens collection.

For those of you familiar with the Alien franchise, you’ve no doubt noticed the differences between the designs of the first and second movie. Giger did the designs on the first, Cameron changed stuff up on the second. Giger’s look was always more creepy, more sexualized, perfect for a movie geared towards horror. Cameron’s look fits his movie, more menacing and rugged for an action packed movie. The most obvious example is the dome, which is significantly different between the two figures.

No doubt you’ve noticed the tubes hanging under the arms, whether you saw them in the movie or not, who knows! They’re there on the figure as the default option. If you find those unappealing, Revoltech included “bare” arm parts that don’t have the tubes. I kept them on for the review pictures but I prefer the bare arms.

As for other accessories, the Alien Warrior isn’t loaded with them but it does the job. Extra forearms, extra claws in a different position, a sealed Alien egg, and a base with an acid burn. As you’ll see in the next picture, the egg looks fantastic.

I’ve made these images a little more bright than they are in reality so you could get a more detailed look at the paint. It’s a deep blue with transparent brown areas. The transparency isn’t as in your face in person, that’s just on my images so you could really see it. The overall paint quality is what you’d expect from Revoltech, quite good considering the scale. There’s some detail issues here or there, but considering my high-res images are FAR larger than life-size, you’re not gonna see any problems in real life.

As expected, the Revoltech body works wonderfully here, allowing you to achieve a good variety of menacing poses with a fair bit of stability. After playing around a bit, I find it easier to put the Aliens in good looking poses than some of the Revoltech human figures, of course, I found the Alien Queen a real pain in the ass to pose (review coming soon!) so it evens out.

I’m hard pressed to find any faults here. It’s a great looking figure that’s easy to pose and downright fun to play with. While it isn’t as accessory packed as it could be, the accessories it does come with are high quality.

The retail price on this was more expensive than the Professor Layton despite this having less accessories. I’m assuming it’s a licencing issue but the difference was minimal, maybe $2-$3? It comes with a little name stand, a basic base, an Alien egg, and a facehugger. Admittedly, the Alien egg and the facehugger look incredible for their size. The paint is some of the best I’ve ever seen at this scale.

On to the figure itself! As you’ll see from my pictures, it offers considerable posing opportunities. It’s a little more tricky than Layton though. The joints are a bit tight and you might need to grasp them with pliers to move them into position. If you somehow end up breaking a joint, don’t FLIP OUT. You can apparently buy replacement revolver joints. Since I’m sure everyone is going to pose their Alien figures in crazy battle stances, just wanted to put that out there.

As you can see from the above photo, the mouth opens and the tongue can pop out. He’s really easy to stand up either by himself, or supporting him partially with the stand. The sculpting detail is intense given how small this figure is. SO MANY absolutely tiny details in the sculpt. You can also pop off the dome of the head, allowing you to see the skull interior.

Here he is hiding his shame. Look away! There is one minor issue with the sculpting. The teeth look strange, a little messy I guess is the word. They certainly don’t look bad and I don’t expect perfection at this small of a scale, it’s just something that you might notice. As for the paint, it’s shaded incredibly well. They went all out on the figure and the accessories, it’s amazing how paint apps have improved over the years.
