I JUST received this in on Friday and was so impressed that I fast-tracked my review and pics. The Sideshow Collectibles Scarlet Witch comiquette, designed by Mark Brooks, is quite possibly the best Marvel ~lady~ comiquette to date. You can check out the video review, or check out tons of pictures and text under the cut and find out why I’m giving it such high praise.

I’ve been a fan of Mark Brooks and his style for a good while. When I found out he was designing comiquettes, similar to the Hughes’ ones, I was excited. I bought the Dagger comiquette, and while it was good, I felt it didn’t quite match his style (review in a few weeks). On the other hand, every preview I saw of Scarlet Witch made her look gorgeous, a near perfect interpretation of what Brooks was capable of. High expectations for this.

VERY pleased to see it came with a large print. Some of the Hughes’ prints have been goddamn tiny, practically a sheet of regular paper. Not very good for display. This print comes in at a giant 13 x 18 or so, convention sized. It’s nicely detailed and compliments the piece well.

I was concerned about the face. In a few of the previews, it looked like Wanda here had just finished smoking some reefer. That’s cool and all, but I prefer my lady comiquettes looking sober. I’m weird like that, I know! I’m happy to say that the face on my Scarlet Witch looks great.

I’m a big fan of cutesy interpretations of characters so seeing one worked into a non-custom statue was nice. Vision looks adorable. Wanda’s expression of happiness while she’s playing around with lil’ Vision works great for the pinup style they were going for.

One thing that was a tad strange about this statue is the construction. I’m glad they separated it into as many piece as they did, for safety during shipping, but it has far more pieces than any other statue I’ve assembled. Perhaps this is why Sideshow has started placing assembly instructions on their site in PDF form. All the pieces are held together by magnets (except the cape) and you don’t need to worry about them falling off, they have a very strong grip.

When looking at the pose, Wanda has a sexy and confident look to her. She’s incredibly well sculpted, from the wonderfully detailed fabric look to the billowing cape. She’s got a superb body and unlike the Hughes’ comiquettes, has it going on on the top and bottom. Her gigantic bosom could probably be toned down a touch, but whatever. The hair is a major improvement over the Dagger comiquette.

The paint on mine is fantastic. Nicely shaded in all the fabric areas, bright and bold where it should be. Great work on the face. My only issue is there’s clearly some damage/poor paint on the back of my base. I’ve contacted Sideshow to see if they can replace that part for me. Since I haven’t seen anyone else with this issue, I know it’s an isolated thing.

There is one issue many people have reported though, and mine experiences it to a slight degree. The area between the breasts is filled in to varying degrees with paint. Mine is only a tiny bit filled in. Some people have a LOT of paint inbetween the breasts, making it downright distracting. In my case, if it ever bothers me, it looks like an easy fix. You’ll notice this also happens between the legs in the above picture, but I can understand how it would’ve been incredibly difficult to do that area right.
UPDATE : A LOT of people are receiving damaged Vision statues with theirs. Make sure to crack this sucker open when you get it, don’t keep it sealed, you might end up regretting it when Sideshow runs out of replacements.
4.5/5. As stunning as it is, the minor issues I had dropped it a half point. That doesn’t mean it’s not one of my favourites, if not my favourite lady statue to date.
Buying Options : You can try the Sideshow waitlist. It’s unfortunately not up on Amazon yet, but feel free to check Ebay. Most local stores should be receiving their shipments in the next few days. If you’re interested, I’d advise picking it up soon.
For anyone dedicated enough to have read this far, have two additional pictures of Wanda without the cape. Enjoy!
