One Piece Portrait of Pirates – Usopp and Nami V.2 Statues Review
Posted by: Dr_Teng In: Statues
Second Portrait of Pirates review, go! Today, it’ll be Usopp with Chopper, and Nami version 2. There’s been another Usopp released, in a different outfit and without Chopper, and this particular Nami was re-released with some improvements. The pose looks more natural and they tweaked a few minor things. If you like the look of this one, you’ll like the newer one even more.

The Usopp was one of the earlier figures in the line, and it’s a shame he wasn’t re-released in this outfit, with improvements. He uses the style of stand which I hate, but he’s worth keeping regardless. Not only does he come with the 5 ton hammer, he also has his slingshot, and as a bonus, the first version of Chopper (who has a peg that attaches to the base). He looks great, and I said this about Megahouse before, but they often nail the characters very well.

There’s been at least 2-3 Chopper figures released since this one, Chopper is a giant cash cow. This one is the standard outfit, the others have more unique looks to them. The peg on this Chopper can make him slightly off-balance, and Usopp can be a little off-balance as well, depending how he comes out of the box. As you can see in my pictures, his legs weren’t quite flat to the ground. Since these figures use a soft plastic, after the photos, I simply bent them slightly and made them align perfectly to the ground.

This is the second figure of Nami. Basically, the more hoed up version of Nami. Even though the first one was wearing less clothes, she was in a less ~provacative~ pose, her breasts weren’t the size of watermelons (though this is more accurate to the series) and you couldn’t remove her skirt so she’d be in her panties, which you can do here. Fun fact : This was the first statue I had that you could remove the clothing from. Japan loves that stuff, apparently!

The pose is a little off, but they fixed that for the re-release of this figure. It stands out quite well, it’s accurate to the series, but it has no accessories other than the skirt/panty business. I’m honestly surprised they haven’t released more of Nami, since her figures seem to sell out quickly due to the nerd boners type of appeal, but hey, maybe they’re saving them for even slower economic times.
Overall, I like both of these figures quite a bit. The Usopp is his most classic look, but is difficult to get due to no re-release, and has a garbage stand. The Nami is solid, better with the re-release and easily available, but it’s a bit pervy and has no accessories. They’re solid, but certainly not near the best in the line.
3.5/5
