“YN: A lot of people were sad to hear that the Mighty Muggs will be TRU Exclusives this fall, can you give us any more information on this? We heard from e-stores and Hasbro direct dealers that MM were a great seller. With a lot of collectors and kids not able to get to TRU in all areas will these also be sold on Hasbro’s Website or TRU’s site? Any chance they will come back to a broader release in 2010?
H: Despite fans of the format, Mighty Muggs seemed to appeal to a small but passionate minority of the overall Star Wars collecting audience compared to all our other Star Wars sub lines. There is no chance that Mighty Muggs, at least in the current size or format, will come back as a broader or national release. It is unknown whether TRU.com will be selling Mighty Muggs, but we’ll pass on the encouragement. It will not be sold through HasbroToyShop.com.”
Hasbro seriously sucks if they can’t successfully market something like Muggs effectively. Everytime I went to the US, I had problems finding the ones I wanted (and between myself and my wife, we own a MASSIVE LOAD of Muggs, like 50+), and within Canada it was near impossible to find anything aside from the first two waves of Star Wars Muggs. I had to order from Hasbrotoyshop constantly, which tells me that their retail distribution was just awful, but that’s not uncommon, since I’d always heard complaints about that with their other lines. Then selling the line exclusive to Toys R Us? Are you kidding me?
I can understand if these were warming the pegs anywhere…but they really weren’t. Sure, a few ugly figures would stick around here and there, but for the most part, they were constantly sold out. I guess this is how Marvel Legends’ fans felt when Hasbro screwed up their toy line, laffo.
Oh well, not like I had much more space for them anyways. Screw you Hasbro, I’ll make some custom ones on my own when you clearance them from your site.
