Megahouse Portrait of Pirates Sogeking Usopp statue review
Posted by: Dr_Teng In: Statues
Today I’ll be reviewing the second Usopp statue from the Megahouse Portrait of Pirates line, Usopp as Sogeking. In one of the more memorable arcs for his character, he takes on another alias and here it is, in statue form. I should mention that I had some difficulty properly attaching the mask (both of them, in fact) so I took pictures without it. My inability to play with toys aside, let’s see what I thought.

I’m assuming there was something really obvious that I was missing and this isn’t a flaw of the statue. Both masks looked fantastic, so it was a shame I didn’t have time to play around with it more. It’s nice that they provide a few display options, it easily makes it the definitive version of his Sogeking outfit.

If you were looking at this statue without having known of the character, you’d probably think, damn, this guy is looking pretty badass. Which normally, wouldn’t work for him. But in his Sogeking outfit, it makes for a killer pose and totally works. The sculpting on this is fantastic. Most of the details are just folds on the cloth although the perfect job on the head/hat really shines.

Can’t fault the paint either. Fantastic shading, colours are vibrant where they should be, dark where intended, and nicely shaded. Easily one of the nicest Portrait of Pirates statues for visual flair.
4.5/5. Drops .5 points due to the difficulty of getting the masks on. Let’s call this the dr_teng was stupid point drop. If I can work Transformers, I should be able to work this easily!!
Buying Options : Should be around $80 on Ebay. As usual with Megahouse figures, watch for bootlegs.
