Another classic villain review in the Megahouse Portrait of Pirates statue series! Mihawk had an amazing appearance versus Zoro early on and he’s been popping back in every once and a while. He’s never been a central villain, only filling the cameo role, so it’s understandable that some would debate whether to drop their hard earned coin on him. Fortunately for you, it’s free to check out my review, read on fellow One Piece fans!

Since Mihawk is the top swordsman in the One Piece world, let’s start the review by checking his main weapon. His enormous two-tone sword can be held in one of his hands (two sets of hands, one to hold weapons, one for a regular pose). The sword is painted the same way those two-tone cars are, from certain angles, it looks green. From other angles, it looks purple. Taking pictures of it, you see both! The sword and base both share this type of paintjob which as far as I know, is unique amongst Portrait of Pirates statues. The detail on it is great, just check those hi-res shots. The end-cap pops off and you can kinda see how I didn’t place it back on properly but I fixed that later. All in all, great job. He has one more weapon, which I’ll review a below!

Looking at the figure himself, dude clearly knows how to look ballin’. The purple/black dynamic stands out, a jacket cape, and that awesome hat? Fashion king up in here. Though I’m not sure what he was thinking with the flowery sleeves. Still, he’ll stand out on your shelf compared to most One Piece figures. They did a great job on the sculpting. From the straps on his boots to the fabric folds, the definition of his muscles, and even the face, all of it is well done.

I’m sure you’ve been looking at the pictures and thinking, woah, is that PAINT SHADING on an earlier Portrait of Pirates statue? That’s right! After doing that two-tone paintjob I guess they decided to take it up a notch from the usually flat (which is fine, it fits the style) paintjobs. The detail work and general paintjob is what you’d expect from Megahouse, top quality. No paint rubs or issues that I could see.

Depending on how you pose him, he can take up a hell of a lot of room. He looks best with the sword holstered, but that doesn’t display the sword, which looks awesome. Decisions, decisions. Let’s move on to the final accessory, the tiny sword he uses to fight Zoro the first time. I felt a little stupid because I wasn’t sure if it was supposed to have a hilt? He can’t hold it properly otherwise? As you can see, I just have the sword between his fingers. Hmm.

It’s hard to imagine a better version of Mihawk being released. If you don’t like the character, fair enough, but Megahouse did a fantastic job on him and he’s well worth your $$$dollar$$$.
4/5.
