I should probably post some toy news/views/whatever instead of just reviews. I’m a big fan of Metal Gear, so when Medicom announced some new Metal Gear stuff, I was kinda excited. Especially when I saw this :

Metal Gear 3 Snake, 1/6th scale, hilarious joke outfit from the end of the game? Fantastic! Finding out the cheapest you can reasonably pre-order it is $170 US + shipping? Seriously? What the hell. First off, I’m not a big fan of Medicom. People bitch up a storm about them online because half the figures that’ve been highly anticipated end up breaking the second they take them out of the box. I’ve heard countless stories of Old Snake and MGS3 Snake breaking at the slightest touch. Real Action Heroes my ass. I’ve got the feeling they purchase up licence rights to various things just to prevent other companies from getting them, because they sure don’t use the licences very well. It’s been a common complaint that they’ll make one or two characters and … that’s it. Compare to a company like Hot Toys where they not only keep releasing characters, but they’re actually WAY HIGHER QUALITY at a more affordable price.
Despite wanting it due to the costume, I’m going to skip it because there’s way better uses of $190 (and it’s funny, because telling me a year ago that I’d even consider paying $190 for a toy would’ve had me laughing my ass off). I do like Medicom’s Kubricks and their 6 inch figure stuff so I guess I’ll buy a few of those, and I’d like the 1/6th Raiden but BAH.
In other news, my Enterbay Jack Bauer/David Palmer are on their way to my wife, I scored a great deal on a Hot Toys Dallas, the Masterpiece Grimlock is being released this month, and I’m selling my kidney to fund all this crap. Actually, I’m working on an iPhone app with a pal of mine, that’ll hopefully generate a bit of extra revenue, and it’s been good fun to do some graphic design again, I’m a little rusty. Next review in a day or two!
