Marvel Zombies vs Army of Darkness for $13.59 at Amazon
This took place prior to Zombies 4, and maybe even 3. I can’t be bothered to check! Either way, it’s ridiculous. You’ve got a concept that’s straight up silly (Marvel Zombies) so you make it even MORE silly by throwing in Ash? I’m not going to nerd out and say that’s unacceptable!! because I love Freddy vs Jason, but this kinda sucked in execution.
Ash wasn’t written terribly well. He comes off as annoying instead of funny. I think Army of Darkness is fantastic, so I’m going with that being the fault of the writing. The idea for the story is alright and it works in the Necronomicon in a pretty fantastic way (especially what happens to it) but the overall story didn’t work for me. The best parts were the non-comedy Dr. Doom parts of the story, which there are unfortunately far too few of.
As far as the Marvel Zombies comics go, this arc was the weakest.
1.5/5. You’ve got a comedy comic with a kinda lame concept that isn’t very funny. Big problem. With this, I’m done Marvel Zombie comic reviews until the new series is over!
