Marvel Zombies for $10.87 currently at Amazon
This takes place just after the Ultimate Fantastic Four zombie bit, basically, zombies have taken over one of the alternate Earths in the Marvel Universe. They still retain some of their character, but not when THE HUNGER takes over.
The thing I like most about this is that Marvel treated it like a complete joke. Which for the most part is exactly what zombies should be since it’s an overdone and nearly dead genre. The comics get more and more ridiculous, building up to a huge zombie battle with Galactus. Straight up, this does nothing for the characters, and doesn’t “add” to the Marvel universe. But if you want to see your favourite heroes and villains acting like zombies and eating up the Marvel universe, it’s a solid and fun read. I’ll review the rest of the zombie stuff this month too, seems appropriate with Halloween coming up soon!
4/5

Dead Days for $18.24 currently at Amazon
Dead Days was a companion piece written later on that goes into how the Marvel heroes turned into zombies, it starts right after the Avengers were infected. Right off the bat, there’s some pretty awful art in this. Some frames are straight up amateur, the proportions are all screwed up and not in some intentional zombie way or whatever.
On the other hand, story is good! Getting to read what Spider-Man cries about in the regular Zombies #1, reading about humanity’s escape plans, what happens to the Fantastic Four, there’s some fun stuff in here for a one shot.
3/5. Despite the crappo art at some parts, it gives out some decent backstory. Of course, since it’s backstory to a silly zombie spinoff of Marvel heroes, it might not be something you’re interested in.
