Kotobukiya Catwoman Statue Review

Posted by: Dr_Teng In: Statues

Kotobukiya has released a few Batman statues, including a fantastic Jim Lee Batman and this, their Jim Lee Catwoman Statue.

I’m torn on this statue. It’s a good pose for Catwoman, but with no base and no real companion pieces, it feels out of place in most collections. It seems to me the choice of pose was based on trying to figure out how they could show off the maximum cleavage rather than anything else. Not that I’m opposed to that in my statues, since I like the Adam Hughes/Mark Brooks Sideshow lines, but still.

The sculpt itself is just fine. All the little folds in the fabric, her face, her claws, it’s all good. Of course, it’s a good sculpt of the Jim Lee styled Catwoman, which I thought would grow on me, but it hasn’t. It’s mostly the ridiculous googles that bug me.

That awkward looking case doesn’t help either.

The paint is fine. No issues on this one. It’s not outstanding, but it’s nice.

3/5. If you like the Jim Lee design or the pose, it’s nicely done. Since I have issues with both, I can’t rate it that highly.

Buying Options : Not too difficult to get on the secondary market for $50 or so.

Yeah, the flaunt in your face can be wonderfoul but not at the expense of. And I don’t know what Catwoman adventures include (guess anything) but is it a lot of open cockpit airplane excursions? Maybe just the latest mask style?
.
The case at that angle would make me want to try a pose of her on the side or along some kind of overhang and might attempt to attach her somehow in that way with unobtrusive little black shoe and hand loops or…?? Pin it there? Would have to play around with it first. (Oh no. Not goin’ there.)
