Daredevil : Born Again Hardcover for $16.49 currently at Amazon
I haven’t read many Daredevil comics, though I am familiar with the character, and I’m actually a fan of the cheeseball movie starring Ben Affleck. This one was recommended to me, and I’m glad it was.
One of Daredevil’s ex-girlfriends, the only one who ever knew Matt Murdock was Daredevil, has bottomed out. Her life is a disaster, and in a moment of desperation, she reveals his real name. This gets back to the Kingpin, who decides to ruin everything in Daredevil’s life. Watching his life get ruined, what happens to him, and how his character reacts to it, just superb. It’s a fantastic Daredevil story, and a fantastic Kingpin story to boot.
I’m not a big fan of Miller’s writing in general, but he hits it out of the park here. Fantastic art too, it works great with the mood of the comic.
The thing about this kind of story is it really needs to be handled a certain way. There’s only so many times that a character can experience his life being completely ruined and him descending into madness. Once, maybe twice before a character reboot. This covers it so well that I actually want to read the rest of Miller’s Daredevil run.
4.5/5 I can’t think of any complaints I have with it, great read, go read it.
