SDCC Sideshow Collectibles news and announcements

Sideshow had an enormous amount of news so here’s my attempt at summing it up :

GI Joe Baroness Premium Format statue announced and sneaked –

Rogue Premium Format announced and sneaked –

Star Wars maquette line announced – Here’s the link to the video

Vampirella licence announced and sneaked –

Venture Bros announced, Mass Effect 2, Dead Space, American McGee’s Alice, and Dante’s Inferno.

A Marvel “Women of Marvel” line was announced, starting with Sue Storm. It’ll follow up with Storm, Black Widow and Lyra.

Some more Marvel statues including Hobgoblin, Magneto, and Magik.

SDCC for Kotobukiya – New announcements and pics

Not too much unexpected news on the Kotobukiya front but solid efforts all around. They previewed their Danger Room Rogue statue (not complete, the face will be getting reworked), X-Force Wolverine, Psylocke, Doctor Doom, White Queen Bishoujo, and regular Wolverine. Lots of stuff we’d seen in preview form or not at all! Oh, and the Batgirl Bishoujo pics under the cut.

For sneak peeks, they had Boba Fett, Darth Maul, Stormtrooper, Black Cat Bishoujo, Ms. Marvel Bishoujo, and Catwoman Bishoujo. Be sure to check out the Colossus rough sneak peek under the cut as well.

Kotobukiya Rogue Bishoujo Statue Review

Here’s a review of the second in Kotobukiya’s Bishoujo line of statues, Rogue.

As with the Black Widow, this statue is tiny. It also comes in at a pretty cheap price so that’s no surprise.

This statue right here, what a fantastic design by Shunya. Rogue’s in her classic Jim Lee styled outfit with a few minor modifications. She’s in a very bold pose.

Absolutely zero issues with this sculpt. Fantastic face, nicely flowing hair, great body and detail work. The base is simple and it’s in line with the rest of the series.

The vast majority of the paint on this is superb. They decided on some interesting choices to separate the boots and gloves from the regular fabric look, works well. The only issues are some slightly rough work around the edges of parts of her outfit. You can see that in the booble area and near the belt.

5/5. Minor paint issues aside, superb piece.

Buying Options : This was released in two versions. This one and a variant piece. This one is easily available on Ebay.

DC Direct releasing another two Ame-Comi repaints, Donna Troy and Supergirl

I’ve waffled on the DC Direct Ame-Comi line before. Sometimes they’ll have crap, sometimes they’ll have surprisingly strong entries, it’s been very hit or miss. But these repaints are getting old and are obviously a way to make more money from their sculpts. These come in at $60 MSRP and you can see images under the cut.

Bowen Designs considering another classic Iron Man statue

This one is being considered for the hall of armor, but it may end up getting posed in a different way, perhaps an action pose. So consider this a potential sneak peek of the next Bowen Designs classic Iron Man.

DC Direct Batman-Superman Apocalypse Supergirl maquette

If you’re not familiar with this, it was a graphic novel (back when Loeb was decent) and is being made into a movie. As has happened with every other animated movie, DC Direct is making a maquette of it, in this case, Supergirl. She comes in at 11.25 inches high with a MSRP of $100.

I’m really sorry about the lack of updates, the Hyatt internet is a giant piece of shit and I haven’t been able to connect to the site whatsoever this whole time. I’ve got TONS and TONS of posts to make, starting tomorrow afternoon (when I arrive back and have more reliable internet), including plenty of photos and announcements.
