Bowen Designs Thor museum pose statue review

One of the most highly regarded Bowen Designs statues, does the Thor museum pose stand up to the hype?

This week, I’m reviewing one of the statues that made me want to get into collecting these overly expensive things, the Bowen Designs Thor musem statue. This was the second Thor statue from Bowen Designs, with the first being an action pose.

The great thing about this statue is it’s one of the most classy of all Bowen statues. Thor stands on top of a wonderfully made base, in a very strong pose. He’s truly the Asgardian God of Thunder here. The cape and hair flows wonderfully, the muscles are well sculpted, and the face is spot on with the best comic illustrations of him. Great job on his hammer as well.

The paint on my particular one was up there with the great Bowen paintjobs. Good attention to detail, no paint drips or chips, solid blending, no problems here.

One thing to consider is that there’s going to be a huge amount of competition for the best Thor statue soon. With the upcoming Bowen busts, the recent Kotobukiya statue, and no doubt the multiple statues coming from the movie, you might get lucky and this might go down in value.

5/5. This is still my favourite Thor statue from any company. I unfortunately don’t own mine anymore, but you can be sure I’ll be picking this one up again.

Buying Options : Long sold out at retail, you’re stuck trying to buy it on Ebay. While prices are absurd on Amazon, it’s worth checking in case someone lists it at a reasonable price.

Excellent pictures of one of my favorite statues and absolutely my favorite Thor. I still have mine and managed to find it at an online store a few years ago. I paid $200 for it and considered myself lucky.
I remember some were complaining about his thighs touching on the inside but did not see why that was objected too.

To me this statue easily deserves the word magnificent. If I collected FB this is the first one I would try for.

I just checked Dr_T. nitrocomics.com shows it in stock for$369.95 and the FB for $449.95.

Not trying to throw temptation at you but I have ordered from them a few times. Always have been reliable tho prices sometimes seem too high. I am pretty sure you could do better on ebay of from some collector. Like you say they might drop. DROP!!!…Ouch…blasphemy!

Wish I had gotten him when my local store had it on sale Christmas before last. :(

That is pretty pricey, but there’s something to be said for having an item in-stock this long after release, and being a reliable store. I’ll have to check them out a little more indepth, I think I’ve only been there once or twice.

Just checked americanicon.com for fun and they have it for $529.95. Their Thor FB is $499. lol. I have never bought from them. Much too high. Their prices are way up there (he added pointlessly).
