Bowen Designs Mr. Fantastic Statue Review

Yet another Bowen review, I’m cranking these out. This time, the full size Mr. Fantastic. Ignore the partially broken arm, that happened during shipping and I’ll fix it eventually.

I’ve seen a lot of chit-chat on the net about people not liking this one because it’s basically a really massive bust. Similar to the complaints against the DC Dynamics line really, although they’re a bit more valid in that case. Personally, I don’t mind this look at all. When I look at this enormous statue, I don’t see a bust. Just look at this thing.

It looks great with the Fantastic Four statues already released, although I don’t like how the Thing or the Sue Storm look, so I’ll never buy that full set. That does bring up a problem though. Considering the strange size and shape of this statue, I think it’d be off in most displays. I don’t even have a proper place for it in my own display, so yeah, I can see why it’s got an iffy rep online.

That said, the sculpt looks fantastic. Pretty difficult to think of a better way to show off his powers than this. The whole thing is nicely painted and nicely shaded, and I think the face looks superb. Oddly enough, most of the pictures I’ve seen online make the face look awful. Not sure what’s up with that, maybe it was a prototype? Who knows.

4/5. Awkward for most displays, but if you can fit it in, it’s well sculpted and well painted, a good statue all around.

Buying Options : As with most older Bowen statues, long sold out everywhere. Available on Ebay, make sure you’re bidding/buying the full size.
