When I received my Bowen Iron Man, I received this Bowen piece as well, the Bowen Designs Museum Pose Brown Costume Wolverine statue.
Wolverine’s been one of my favourite characters since I’ve been a kid, and of course, he’s one of Marvel’s most popular characters so there’s roughly two dozen statues of him from every statue company. I took a look through the most popular ones and I thought they were way overrated and looked like garbage in pictures, but there were 3-4 that seemed pretty sweet, and this was the first one I saw a great price on.
The base looks great. It makes me think of the Danger Room, perfect for a museum pose. The representation of the brown costume is really top notch. The belt comes off looking a tad ridiculous, but from looking at pictures online, it’s actually accurate. Why Wolverine would choose to wear an enormous belt is beyond me, but there you go! The face sculpt, what you can see of it, is also great. It looks like he’s annoyed and ready for a brawl.
As for the problems with the statue, there’s some minor ones when you’re inspecting it up close. The gap between his legs doesn’t go up far enough so his legs are merged and painted, the claws are slightly bent (but could be corrected with a hairdryer if you’re so inclined), and the paint application can be a little spotty at points. Around the claw holes and some details around the belt and the difference between the fabric and skin parts of his costume.
Those minor concerns really don’t bother me, but they might bother you. The pose, the base, and the overall effect make this a really top notch piece. Not too expensive on Ebay, not that hard to find, I’m a fan.
