Behind the scenes look at Sideshow Collectibles Snake Eyes diorama

Posted by: Dr_Teng In: Statues

I’m always interested in reading articles about how newer technology is coming into play in artistic fields, so this one was pretty fun. One of the sculptors at Sideshow, the one that did the recent Snake Eyes diorama, has a writeup featuring tons of pictures of the CG sculpt for the statue, as well as the initial printing of the statue. There’s also a few links in the OP that elaborate further on the details.

Enjoy!

This CG stuff is cool. Sometimes it looked like the CG stuff wasnt detailed enough, then I saw this. The future of sculpting? Only time will tell.

Amazing!!
Has anyone seen those plans for building your own 3D printer? Forgot where I saw them. Wonder if they have improved?

Oh sure, there’s lots of amazing 3d printers now. Me and a business partner are eventually planning to buy one. It’s difficult to build one yourself that’s decent, but it’s always improving.
